Join a 12-week remote study of effera, a daily supplement containing recombinant human lactoferrin. The study looks at whether it affects menopause symptoms, sleep, comfort, and markers of iron and bone health. You'll take part from home through the Alethios app, and a phlebotomist will come to you for two blood draws. Your participation helps build real evidence about what does and doesn't help women during menopause.
Participation is fully remote and takes place through the Alethios app. You will take 2 capsules once a day for 12 weeks and log it each day, which takes a few seconds. Each week you answer a short check-in about how you are feeling. At the start and at Weeks 4, 8, and 12, you complete a longer set of surveys about your menopause symptoms, sleep, vaginal comfort, and digestion, plus a grip strength test, a 30-second chair test, and a photo of your face taken through the app. A phlebotomist visits your home twice, at the beginning and the end, to draw a small fasted blood sample. You can also connect a smartwatch if you have one, though this is optional.
Complete a short screening questionnaire to confirm you qualify. If eligible, review the study details and sign your electronic consent form through the Alethios platform.
Answer questions about your health and menopause history, complete your first set of surveys, take a photo of your face, and do a short chair exercise. A phlebotomist then visits your home for a fasted blood draw. Your study capsules ship after this step.

At Week 12 you complete your final surveys and physical tests, and a phlebotomist returns for your second blood draw. Adherent participants receive up to $125 in Amazon gift cards.
This study looks at whether effera, a daily supplement containing recombinant human lactoferrin (a protein), affects symptoms many women experience after menopause. Lactoferrin plays a role in the immune system and in how the body handles iron. Researchers will measure changes in menopause symptoms, sleep quality, vaginal and digestive comfort, and physical strength. They'll also look at blood markers of iron status, inflammation, bone health, and metabolic health. Participants are randomly assigned to one of three doses or a placebo. Neither participants nor the study team will know who is in which group until the study ends.
